We provide funding and support to charities that give free legal help to those in need

The Trust will make grants to enable the provision of free legal advice to members of the public who would otherwise be disadvantaged, and will also support other charitable work that promotes access to justice.

The Trust will only fund not-for-profit activity, and will not support projects where the Trustees feel that Legal Aid Agency funding is suitable and practical within a reasonable time frame.

The Trust will fund organisations that can show a track record of quality in delivering other funded or income-generating programmes and an ability to be sustainable.  Projects are required to demonstrate how legal advice provision is supervised by or overseen by a legally qualified practitioner: whether employed or associated with the project.

Given the current environment and major reductions in advice delivery support, the Trustees are giving priority to projects that increase the provision of legal advice.  However it will give consideration to other projects, within the Trust aims and objectives, that promote Access to Justice.  Applications in this area must demonstrate, and describe examples of, qualitative and quantitative results.

Applications from organisations with a national reach beyond the North West need to consider how you will evidence the service to show how it delivers to beneficiaries that live in the North West area and how the funds requested will benefit them.
